UTAH CODE School Grading Act 53a-1-1110 states, “(2) notwithstanding subsection (1), and subject to subsection (3), for a school year in which at least 65% of schools described in subsection (1)(a) or (b) receive an a or a b, the board shall increase an endpoint of a range described in subsection (1)(a) or (b) by five percentage points over the previous school year.”

For the school year 2015-2016, more than 65% of Utah’s schools were assigned a letter grade of an A or B. Therefore, new grade range percentages are now applied. As a result of the change, several schools may see a decrease in their letter grade. Please see the following table.
